MOVE IN READY OR JUST READY TO MOVE?

Things are getting so close that each day feels like we could move in.  Until we realize that we don’t have a front door, there is still no water, the floors aren’t done and the kitchen cabinets are barely attached.  At least it looks close to being done.

This week has been prepping the exterior for paint, assembling the kitchen cabinets and lots of sanding of the walnut floors and custom walnut stairs.  Really love the work that the folks at Abacus did on the stairs – amazing craftspeople!

WINDOWS ARE DONE. DRYWALL IS DRY.

DSC06358After more than a month delay, the custom front and back windows are in.  The team can now finish the trim, siding and weatherproofing.  The coming week will be finishing all the wood stairs, installing most of the cabinets and then the floor finishing can begin.  Next up is ordering carpet, arranging delivery of the rest of the appliances and getting the last of the paint colors chosen.  We’re more delayed than we would like (early October move in now) but things are looking good and it’s fun to see it all come together.

FLOORS!

DSC06334The bulk of the American walnut flooring is in and it’s looking good – even without being finished.  Drywall as all been primed and the wood stairs are being made.  Still waiting on the custom windows for the front and back (over a month late) but optimistic that they will show up before the crew has to stop working.  The September 15 completion date is a little risky if the windows don’t arrive within the next couple weeks.

AMERICA’S GOT SHEETROCK.

Making good progress on the drywall.  Several coats of mud and the first round of drywall all up.  All the concrete has been poured and finishing touches will be done this week.  Big window systems are scheduled to arrive July 15, bathroom tiling will start next week and wood floors will be brought onsite and started to be installed in the next couple weeks.  We’re off on vacation for a couple weeks but excited to see lots of progress when we return.

ACID WASHING NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD.

DSC05165 The sleek and simple concrete porch was completed this week with a slightly darkened concrete and an acid wash rinse which shows a little more texture and improves traction.  Tom and the guys did a great job.  Next up is patching the original driveway, adding the recessed light and eventually adding the house numbers.
