The mortgage paperwork is done. The small forest of papers that we signed are filed. The city, state, insurance companies, mortgage brokers, escrow filers and real estate agents have recognized the transaction. We’ve handed over buckets of money to people we’ve never met in person. We officially own a 1960 house that needs a complete interior overhaul. It’s structurally in excellent condition. You just can’t say the same about the flower wallpaper, the white carpeting, the pineapple wallpaper, the pineapple chandelier…
