HURRY UP AND… WAIT.

The demolition has moved along quickly.  The appliances were purchased before the February 1 price increase.  The plans are 95% complete.  Now we just have to wait for the city’s building permit process to catch up with the 21st century and we can start building.

So what does the month ahead hold?  Getting natural gas service to the house, having the 500 gallon oil tank removed from its underground bunker and getting rid of some trees that have sadly overgrown their welcome too close to the house.  Will be slow going on progress in February at the house but lots of movement in shuffling papers across the city.

DEMOLITION: 99% DONE.

Thanks to some speedy reciprocating saws and no major surprises, the demolition is almost complete.

Next week will be some concrete removal and some additional wiring removal but we’re ahead of schedule and almost ready to start framing. New photos have been added – click the photo below or the “Demolition” link in the bottom right of the page to see more.

PIC OF THE WEEK.

Rob was the big winner of the pineapple light!  Well, winning is relative but he’s assured us that it will be whisked away to a designer who has some interesting visions involving resins, new paint and a renewed life for the light.

LET THE DEMOLITION BEGIN.

It’s a new year and time to bring out the jackhammers.  Demolition has begun with three salvage companies taking items to be sold or reused in other homes.  Within a week, we’ll be back to the studs in most rooms, doing structural assessments and putting the final touches on all the plans.  It’s starting to get real.

PIC OF THE WEEK.

The demolition has begun and we uncovered yet another wallpaper behind some mirrors.  This one is actually kind of cool and might be something we’d enjoy if we were actually going with wallpaper.
